“It is to this Avalon of the heart the pilgrims still go.
Some in bands, knowing what they seek. Some alone,
with the staff of vision in their hands, awaiting what may come to meet them on this holy ground.
None go away as they came.”

Dion Fortune, Avalon of the Heart

Join Mara Freeman, international workshop leader and author of "Kindling the Celtic Spirit," on an unforgettable journey to explore south-west England’s most beautiful and evocative sacred landscapes. Especially designed for the spiritual pilgrim in search of inspiration, renewal, and inner peace, this unique ten-day experience will be centered in Glastonbury, the legendary Isle of Avalon itself, once called the “Holyest Earthe in England".

Here we will have an opportunity to stay in the heart of Avalon at the historic Chalice Well Retreat Center, a fully-modernized 16th century house situated within the Chalice Well Gardens, where legend says the Holy Grail was hidden centuries ago.

We will be able to wander in the peaceful gardens, drink from the sacred well and walk up Glastonbury Tor, the mysterious hill long held to be an entrance to the Celtic Otherworld. We will be in easy walking distance of Glastonbury Town, which is full of delightful shops and cafes, local craft stores, mystical bookstores, and healing centers, and other legendary landmarks such as:

The lovely medieval Abbey where King Arthur and Queen Guinevere are said to lie buried.
Wearyall Hill, where the miraculous Holy Thorn of Joseph of Arimathea grows.
The White Spring, gateway to the faery kingdom within the Tor.

Glastonbury is perfectly situated within easy reach of other wonders of the sacred landscape. We will also be journeying to:

Stonehenge, the extraordinary Neolithic Temple of the Sun, one of the marvels of the ancient world, where we will have private access for a powerful Druid ceremony at sunset.

Avebury, the largest stone circle complex in the world, set in the midst of a rich prehistoric landscape which includes West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill, the mound of the Goddess.

Crop circles, the enigmatic and beautiful geometric patterns created by other-dimensional energies in fields of ripening grain. Truly a modern mystery!

The City of Bath, with its unique Roman, medieval and Georgian architecture, and visit the Roman Baths, once a sacred spring dedicated to a Celtic goddess.

The White Horse of Uffington, the huge, mysterious figure carved into the chalk hills of The Ridgeway, and the nearby ceremonial site, Wayland’s Smithy...

….and other local sacred sites and places that resonate with the spirit of Mystical England.
